The 38-year-old actor’s wife Blake Lively shared a sweet snap of him with their six-month-old daughter on Father’s Day, but some of her followers were quick to claim James shouldn’t have been in the holding device.

One wrote: “The reason the baby is unsafe and is obviously in the carrier wrong is because of the leg positioning, the baby should be in the seated position… that is how they are secure. The legs would be coming out the sides instead of the bottom.”

Another added: “The legs should be in a frog like position bc straight down like that is bad for the babies hips [sic].”

Parenting blog The Stir also insisted that the way James was positioned could effect her breathing.

They wrote: “James’ head seems tone completely obscured. Babywearers always want to make sure they can see their infant’s face, and keep their airways clear.”

But many of Gossip Girl actress Blake’s followers jumped to their defence.

One said: “I cannot stop laughing. Clearly they know how to carry their baby, lighten up people.”

Another sympathised the couple, adding: “Everyone is at one point first time parents. We all make mistakes! What made you perfect?! Give them a chance to be a human being. [sic].”
