10 years on since the release of the hit romantic drama The Notebook, the film’s director Nick Cassavetes has revealed that Ryan Gosling once asked him to replace Rachel McAdams with another actress.
The actors- who shared an intense chemistry onscreen- reportedly hated each other whilst they were filming.
Cassavetes revealed that at one point 33-year-old Ryan asked his 35-year-old co-star to be fired from set.
The director said: “Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not.”

“Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, "Nick come here.”
“And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, "Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?"
“'I said, "What?" Then he says, "I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.”
Ryan and Rachel managed to work through their differences and by the time filming finished, the pair had started dating.
The couple dated on and off for over four years.
