TV star Ruth Langsford is planning to have a little nip and tuck in the wake of her split from husband Eamonn Holmes, Closer can reveal.
The Loose Women panellist, who has been single for nearly six months since splitting from Eamonn, has told pals that the stress of the separation has left her feeling older than she is and she’s ready to try out age-reversing treatments.
‘Ruth is ready for a divorce makeover. While her marriage was great for many years, nothing ages you faster than the stress of a separation, let alone going through it under the spotlight,’ a source reveals.
‘She’s held back the years and aged gracefully, but the last 12 months have left their mark. She’s now feeling vulnerable about her age – something the TV industry doesn’t help with, and has told friends that Eamonn has put 15 years on her face. She’s joked that she needs an MOT to undo it all!’
Former This Morning host Ruth has found herself regularly in the headlines since announcing she was splitting from 64-year-old Eamonn after 14 years of marriage and more than two decades together. Rubbing salt into the wounds, just weeks after their separation was announced, it was revealed Eamonn had started a new romance with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 43 – who is 21 years his junior.
GB News presenter Eamonn looked smitten while cosying up with Katie at a friend’s wedding last week, and in the summer the duo jetted off for a romantic cruise together – with one cheeky snap showing Eamonn placing a hand on his new flame’s bottom.
But as Eamonn’s relationship with Katie thrives, our source says that her seeing her ex move with a much-younger woman has taken its toll on Ruth, also 64.
We’re told, ‘Ruth is a natural beauty who’s blossomed as she’s grown older. But like every woman, there does come that time when what she sees in the mirror isn’t a reflection of how she feels. She wants to look hotter than Katie. Ruth is an incredible woman and totally deserves to look and feel a million dollars.’
Ruth – who shares son Jack, 22, with Eamonn – has been enjoying some well-deserved pampering as she enters her single era – taking her one million Instagram followers along for the ride, showing off her at-home facials and regular visits to her hair stylist.
This comes after Ruth candidly opened up on Loose Women about aging in the spotlight – saying, ‘You know me, I don’t really worry too much about age. But from 60 to now, I feel like everything has kind of dropped and sagged. It’s a bit, you know, a funny neck.’
And now, the source tells us that Ruth is considering new methods to get her va-va-voom back ahead of her 65th birthday next year. They say, ‘Ruth’s told friends that her eyes are where she feels she’s carrying the most baggage, as well as her jawline. So she’s interested in an eye-lift, and she’d consider Botox and fillers if they’re done well. Threading is also an option to get her jawline tightened. Ruth has no interest in looking like a woman who’s walked into the jet stream of a plane, but she wants her face to wake up at the same time as she does.’
Since splitting from Eamonn, Ruth’s been well and truly letting her hair down with plenty of wild nights out with her closest pals – including Rylan Clark, 36.
Rylan, who has veneers, lip filler, and Botox himself, has been open about his love for cosmetic tweakments, revealing in summer that he ‘probably will have more done’.
He’s previously said, ‘I don’t regret anything I’ve done. I think, if you’re in a position where you want to change something and you think it will make you feel better, and you can do that, then do it. I don’t think that you should be judged for that.’
Back in 2021, Ruth admitted, ‘You see yourself a lot when you’re on telly. Obviously, there are lots of times where you think you could do with a bit of something to age as gracefully as you can.’
And now, our source says Ruth is keen on making a few small changes – but she won’t be going overboard. ‘She wants to enhance her natural beauty, without ruining her face. She would love to have the face she had when she was in her fifties.’
