Despite falling hard for the I Kissed a Girl singer in 2009, it seems Brand had little good to say about the way songstress Perry lives her life.

Opening up in his new documentary - ‘Brand: The Second Coming,’ the comedian turned activist seemed to hint at a rift forming between them.

The 40-year-old explained how his visit to Africa for Comic Relief in 2010 left him questioning his relationship, saying: ‘I’m associated with the very thing I detest: vapid, vacuous, plastic, constructed, mindless celebrity.’

Ouch.

Russell also mocked his wife during a stand-up routine, and admitted to his friend Stephen Merchant that he didn’t think the marriage would last.

In another scene from the documentary, rocker Noel Gallagher can be seen admitting he doesn’t see the pair going the distance either.

Just earlier this year, talented singer Katie confessed she hasn’t spoken to her ex husband since he texted her asking for a divorce in 2011, even though Russell has spoken of her warmly since.

Speaking to Howard Stern at the time, Brand said: ‘I don't want anything to hurt her. She's younger than me, she's a young woman and she's beautiful and she's sensitive and I care about her deeply.'
