Royle Family star Ricky Tomlinson has been left devastated after he was targeted by thieves whilst moving house.

The actor had filled his car with valuable and personal possessions from his home before popping into a local pub to use the toilet.

When leaving the pub he noticed that his car had been stolen, containing personal photos and momentos.

Ricky told the Liverpool Echo: “The car was full of stuff because I was moving things out of the cottage.

"There were things like an antique clock in there but most importantly there was a photo of my son.

"It's one of only a few photos of him I've got."

Ricky tragically lost his eldest son, Clifton, when he passed away in 2004 at the age of 33.

The actor believes that the thieves purposefully targeted him after watching him go into the pub.

"The man must have been outside the Green Room and spotted me through the window.

"I think it was just a spur of the moment thing.

"When I came back the keys had gone and when I looked outside the car had gone too. It was a real shock.

"The car was absolutely full of bits and pieces and a lot of the things had sentimental value."
