She's caused huge controversy in the CBB house but Roxanne Pallett's close friend insists she's simply misunderstood
The Celebrity Big Brother house has been no stranger to drama but audiences have been left outraged by Roxanne Pallett's behaviour after she accused fellow housemate Ryan Thomas of being a “woman-beater” following what appeared to viewers to be a harmless play fight.
Ex Emmerdale star Roxanne, 35, has gained little public sympathy, with a series of former co-stars blasting her online over her past behaviour.

But the star's close friend Ed Gleave tells Closer that viewers didn't get to see the real her, explaining: "As a close friend of Roxanne, it’s really tough to see the backlash she’s had this week. In person she is one of the kindest and warmest people you could meet. And as a friend she is loyal and supportive.
"She is always full of energy which people sometimes assume is her being attention-seeking. But is isn’t. She is just naturally a very excitable person. It’s a real shame people didn’t see more of her wonderful personality on CBB.”
Following her dramatic exit over the weekend, Roxanne was forced to face up to her actions in two televised interviews. She told Jeremy Vine she had got it “wrong” before admitting to Emma Willis: “It cripples me with embarrassment and shame that I could have put somebody in that position. Seeing the footage of Ryan in the Diary Room, distressed.”

Before entering the Big Brother house, Roxanne - who revealed her engagement to steel worker Lee Walton in August after just one week – admitted she needed breathing exercises to remain calm and told Emma Willis:“When I unravel... well, you'll see. [I’m like] Disney gone wrong.”
And she told Closer in 2016 that she’d suffered anxiety and has suffered at the hands of a violent boyfriend in the past.
Roxanne and Ryan, 34, have a stormy history, the pair reportedly fell out in 2008 hours before the Soap Awards after Ryan gave her a heads up that one of his Corrie co-stars was planning to wear the same dress as her.
They were then said to have fallen out months later when Ryan accused her of flirting with another man behind her then-boyfriend Richard Fleeshman’s back.
