The group have spoken for the first time about their shock over her death, adding that they are doing their best to comfort “soul brother” Mick.

Stones drummer Charlie Watts, 72, said: “We are all completely shocked.”

He added that cancelling the concerts the group had planned in Australia and New Zealand was a hard decision but they had to do the right thing for frontman Mick “in these sad circumstances”.

Guitarist Ronnie Wood added: “This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time.”

And bandmate Keith Richards said: “No one saw this coming. Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him. We’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man.”

Their words of support came as it was revealed that designer L’Wren had been set to announce today that her debt-ridden fashion company was closing.

The talented 49-year-old, who has been praised by clients and fellow designers for her vision as a designer, was found hanged at her apartment in new York on Monday.
