The life of James Dean - and his untimely death - is one which has captured our imaginations and made the Rebel Without A Cause star an icon. So it should come as no surprise to hear that Robert Pattinson, resident Hollywood hunk, has signed up to star in a brand-new biopic film all about the 50s actor.

Mmhmm, RPattz, who's currently wrapping up on Mia Wasikowska film Maps To The Stars, is set to join Dane DeHaan for new movie Life, the real-life story about James Dean’s friendship with Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock.

Despite his love of leather jackets and rugged good looks, Rob will be starring as Dennis, not James Dean - that's Dane DeHaan's role. But that doesn't make us any less inclined to see this buddy style movie.

The movie will hold a camera up to the moment when Dennis Stock was given the opportunity of a lifetime; an exclusive photoshoot with James Dean. And, on a cross-country roadtrip from Los Angeles to New York, the two became very closer friends.

In fact, Dennis Stock was the photographer who took that timeless and iconic picture of James Dean, walking through New York’s Times Square in a long overcoat, cigarette dangling from his mouth, just months before his death in 1955.
