TV talk show host Ricki Lake appeared on Loose Women earlier today and opened up about the death of her ex-husband Christian Evans, who died earlier this year after committing suicide.

Ricki, 49, is best known for her eponymous talk show, which put her as the youngest person to ever host their own syndicated talk show at the time it was aired in 1993.

Ricki, who is also an actress, was married to her husband Christian Evans for five years.

Christian, who was Ricki's second husband, suffered from bipolar disorder, and tragically committed suicide on 11 February 2017.

The couple, who started dating in 2009, filed for divorce in October 2014, before putting it on hold only two months later. Their divorce was finalised in 2015.

She appeared on Loose Women earlier today to discuss how the past seven months have been her "darkest days".

She said: "I was in London when I got the news that my husband had committed suicide in the states. It's very cathartic for me to be here.

"My darkest days have been these last seven months, I'm wearing his wedding ring and he would want me to go on and now my newest cause is talking about mental illness and suicide prevention. It's really an honour to be here to honour him.

"Life goes on I am suffering my greatest loss - he was my twin flame, the only thing other than my two children that matter to me."

Her appearance on the show was met only with praise by Twitter users, who flocked to the micro-blogging site to wish her well.

Our thoughts are with Ricki at this difficult time.
