Rebel Wilson claims gaining weight has helped her career.

The 36-year-old, mainly known for her character ‘Fat Amy’ in the movie Pitch Perfect, has gone from strength to strength since her role in the film and is releasing her own plus-size clothing line.

She recently appeared in Absolutely Fabulous, Grimsby, How to Be Single and is currently playing Miss Adelaide in the West End musical Guys and Dolls.

In an interview with The Telegraph she explained that when she first starred in her first serious play Spurboard people began laughing when she opened her mouth.

She continued: “There’s something about me that people like to laugh at.”

After writing her own play and starring another girl who was bigger than her she realised that she was getting more laughs. She confessed she thought at the time: "I think it’s because she’s fatter."

“And then, I don’t know if it was mega-conscious, but I thought, 'How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter…'

"And then suddenly I was fatter, and doing comedy."

The comedian later admitted: "I saw my size as being an advantage, whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage".

Rebel admitted that she would take six months off and go through a transformation to change her body shape because "why not"?

Later on in the interview while discussing flirting with Idris Elba at the Bafta awards she said: "Idris Elba asked for my number after that.

"But he never called me. It’s fine. I’ve got other options, Idris."

She then joked: "Maybe I’ll meet Prince Harry. He’s still available."

We love Rebel and her body confidence.
