When she exploded on to the big screen in 2011’s Hollywood hit Bridesmaids, Rebel Wilson stole the show - and our hearts! Who wouldn’t want this ace Australian girl in their girl squad?
Five years on from the film that changed her life, Rebel’s hilarious sense of humour is still infectious, as is her determination to remain curvy and body confident.
Rebel – who is size 18-20 - has always had a healthy attitude to her figure, revealing recently:
“Being unique and different was a really good thing… I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call ‘the glamours’ –the really gorgeous people. I’m about the brain, the heart and what’s on the inside.’
But the 36 year old star - who is a massive fan of UK series Absolutely Fabulous – told Closer that she compares herself and her How to Be Single co-star Dakota Johnson to iconic duo Patsy and Eddie.
She says: “You know, when we were out in the streets [filming], it really reminded me of Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, because Dakota I kind of tall and thin, and I’m kind of the more dumpy one… crazier. We’re kind of like a traditional comedy duo in a way, who would have thought it?”
Rebel has always maintained a certain mystique around her private life. Following her reported split from comic Mickey Gooch Jr last September, she admitted:
“I’m a very independent lady and I’ve got my own stuff going on… I’m hoping the right guy will come along. But if it doesn’t happen I’m alright.”
