Rebekah Vardy called police after sick online trolls sent her terrible sexual messages about her two-year-old daughter.

The wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy alerted authorities after she was inundated with the horrific posts on Twitter, she reveals in a new Channel 5 documentary Celeb Trolls: We’re Coming To Get You.

The incident came about after Rebekah shared a picture of her daughter Sofia on Instagram and she called the cops in April last year.

She has now recalled the saddening moment ahead of the programme’s air date of August 24.

She said: “I don’t think I’ve ever read anything as disgusting. I was distraught. We just got the police involved straight away."

Rebekah became frightened to leave her family home as the abuse grew worse, with her saying: “I feel like I don’t want to go out of the house, like I don’t want to go anywhere that someone would recognise me, especially if I’m with my children.”

Police discovered the person who had been sending the cruel messages was based in India after finding out their computer’s IP address and they weren't unable to take action because they were based abroad.

Rebekah has previously experienced cruel taunts from people in other ways as a result of being in the public eye.

She said: “We had people trying to get over our wall, ringing our buzzer at all hours, standing outside shouting abuse.

“It usually tended to be early hours in the morning. The kids would be like, ‘What’s going on?’”
