The double-gold medal winning swimmer, 24, couldn’t help but compare herself to fellow campmate and beauty queen Amy Willerton, 21, during her time in the jungle.

In an interview with a UK newspaper, Rebecca revealed that she has never been happy with her looks or her body.

She said: “Everyday I look in the mirror and go, ‘God, I’m not pretty.’ I’ve got a very big nose. That’s what most of the negative comments on Twitter are about- my nose.”

The world-record breaking swimmer admitted that she struggles with the negative comments she receives on the social networking site.

“People say, ‘Oh God you look like a dolphin,’ or ‘I didn’t realise they let whales into the Olympics, but at least you should be able to swim faster with a nose like that.”

Rebecca also revealed the reason behind the fact she was excused from taking part in some of the Bushtucker Trials.

She said: “I have an anxiety disorder specific to confined underground spaces, and I’ve had panic attacks in the past. I disclosed that in my medical before I went in the jungle.

“We were never aware in advance what the trials were. It was up to the doctors to exempt people. It really was no big deal.”

While in the jungle, Rebecca tortured herself by comparing her body and looks to those of model Amy Willerton but she says that had nothing to do with how she felt about Amy.

“The way I felt about Amy was nothing to do with the way she looked, and I’m not saying she’s a totally ugly person inside. I’d just say there are things about her I didn’t warm to- just the fact she isn’t a team player.

“She looks after herself. I like to look out for other people. Amy’s not like that. She lives in Amy’s world. She’s actually got a brain, and it would be nice to see her being a bit more of a role model for being a team player, being a woman’s woman and being a girl-next-door.”

While Rebecca says that other fellow campmate Joey Essex is similar to Amy, she also thinks he is genuine and honest.

She said: “Joey is genuinely lovely and honest, but, like Amy, he lives in his own world. He’s got a bed at home that’s been specially made for him with his initials and a crown.”

After retiring from professional swimming and being in the jungle, comparing her body to the other female contestant’s bodies, Rebecca revealed that she wouldn’t rule out surgery.

She said: “I wouldn’t ever say no. I couldn’t float the idea of having a nose job before, because with swimming you only get two weeks a year off. Would I now? I’d probably have it straightened, but it’s got to suit your face.”

She hopes that Kian will become King of the Jungle, but thinks Amy and Joey live in their own worlds

Speaking about her relationship with her fiancé, swimmer Harry Needs, 21, Rebecca revealed how he proposed with a treasure hunt.

“I came home and there was a card on the door. Harry had written a riddle. I walked in and there were these arrows on the floor. My grandpa used to do treasure hunts for me, and harry knew how much I loved them.

“He’d left his laptop in there with a not that said ‘press play’. There was a ten-minute video of him singing and dancing to our favourite songs and at the end of the video was him walking through the living room door saying turn around.

“I turned round, and there he was on one knee asking me to marry him. I was bawling my eyes out. I didn’t even say yes. I put the ring on and he kissed me.”

So who does Rebecca want to see crowned King or Queen of the Jungle?

“Kian. Because he’s really achieved something and he’s such a lovely, lovely person.”
