There has been a lot of speculation over the last couple of weeks about the state of the Rooney marriage.
It all started when Wayne was arrested for drink driving while he was heading home with a woman - Laura Simpson - who was definitely not his wife.
And with the 29-year-old office worker confirming she would have slept with Wayne if they hadn't been interrupted, it's no surprise Coleen was left humiliated.
Since his arrest there have been reports that Coleen would give her husband one more chance, followed by claims he has issued her with an ultimatum, demanding she go on less holidays if she wants to save their nine year marriage.
Coleen, however, didn't seem to be giving in quite so easily, first allegedly planning another trip to Dubai for the October half term and then yesterday she was seen out and about without her wedding ring.
But despite this show of strength from the pregnant mum of three, sources close to the couple have spoken to The Sun about why they think Coleen will never leave Wayne.
A friend of Wayne's told the paper: “She loves him.”
“But more than that, she loves family. Most of the time he’s a good husband and a hands-on dad."
And the ties that bind run deep with Coleen coming from a tight knit Catholic family and her brothers being close friends of Wayne's as well as her maintaining good relationships with Wayne's parents.
And if other sources are to be believed, Coleen is also worried about what Wayne would do without her. I think we can all guess...
One of Coleen's allies told The Sun: “He just can’t cope on his own.”
“She organises the food, bills, childcare — everything.
“When she goes away he slobs about with his mates playing Fifa on his computer. He can barely feed himself properly.
“Wayne is like the fourth child in that family and Col can’t bring herself to abandon him.
“She is fiercely loyal and, despite her fury at Wayne, she is ruthlessly protective of her boys and wants them to have a perfect childhood.”
So it seems Coleen is as keen to protect her husband as she is her family.
