Made In Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh and rapper Professor Green have announced the sad news that they are to separate after two years of marriage.

The couple released a joint statement on Saturday saying: "It is with sadness and regret that we confirm our separation.

"It is a mutual decision, we still care deeply about each other and would like it to be known that it is on amicable terms and we wish each other well."

The news comes only weeks after Professor Green revealed he had only seen his wife once since the beginning of the year.

He admitted: "I've only seen Millie once this year.

"It was the first time I had seen her properly in 30 days. We had seen each other like ships in the night, but we weren't getting any quality time together.

"It is good sometimes to have space, but it is also difficult when you miss someone for that long."

The pair tied the knot at Somerset’s Babington House in front of guests including Lily Allen and Millie’s MIC co-stars in September 2013.

Talking to The Sun, a source close to the couple said: "This is difficult for them both. They have tried for so long now to make it work but they have agreed that separating is the best course of action.

"The split is amicable and on good terms and they're determined to remain that way.

"It just became obvious they had different priorities.

"Pro will be staying in the London house he bought before they got engaged and Millie will live elsewhere."

Neither has yet filed for divorce.
