A former royal spokesperson, Dickie Arbiter, told the BBC: "They've taken their time, they're talking to as many people as possible - it has been the best part of half an hour. It is important that they meet as many people as possible.
"They are standing out there, they're cold, they've been waiting a long time, and the feeling is if they have waited for us, then we can spend as much time as possible with them."
Meghan and Harry announced their engagement on Monday after 15 months of dating. They are due to get married next May at Windsor Castle, with the event set to be televised.
Sadly, there will be no bank holiday to mark the occasion, although it is speculated that it will occur during the late May bank holiday anyway.
