Adorable new pictures of Prince George were released for his birthday but the sweet snaps sparked concern for some.

Kensington Palace released four new photographs to celebrate the toddler reaching the age of three.

He could be seen playing on a swing with his parents’ names carved into the wooden seats while wearing a blue and white stripy top with navy shorts.

But one picture has attracted quite a bit of negative attention since its release.

In the picture, George can be seen sitting alongside his pet dog Lupo as he shares an ice-cream with the pooch.

However, animal lovers weren’t impressed as it’s it’s not good for dogs to eat dairy.

Their stomachs are unable to cope with the food and bosses at the RSPCA even issued a statement.

A statement read: “It is lovely that Prince George is trying to help keep his family dog, Lupo, cool in these high temperatures.

“We would advise people to be cautious when giving their dogs foods meant for human consumption as some items, like chocolate, can be highly toxic to dogs and dairy items can be difficult for them to digest.”

In the picture, Lupo can’t be seen eating any of the ice-cream and looks healthy and happy and there have been no reports of him falling ill. Phew!
