The pregnant EastEnders actress, 21, and TOWIE star Dan, 23, are said to have cooled things off last month, two months after revealing Jacqueline was expecting their first child together.
But a source told the Daily Star: "Jacqueline and Dan are trying to make their relationship work. Things are not perfect but they still love each other and want to be a proper family.
"Jacqueline is heading to Liverpool this week to spend Christmas with Dan. He's playing Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk and only gets Christmas Day off so she's agreed to travel up and spend time with him."
Jacqueline, who plays Lauren Branning in the BBC One soap, shot her exit scenes on Friday. She tweeted: "Thank you so much EastEnders. It's been emotional."
But producers have allegedly made her exit storyline 'understated' as they hope she will return after having the baby, which is due in February.
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins replied: "You are going to be an amazing mummy. Come back home to us soon xxx"
Last month Dan, who is dad to son Teddy from a previous relationship, hinted that he and Jacqueline had split.
He tweeted: "Relationships just don't seem to work."
