Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess Of Cambridge, and husband James Matthews are expecting their first child.

Pippa is said to have told friends and family the happy news after her 12-week scan last week.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, a friend of the family revealed: "When Pippa found out she was pregnant, she was obviously thrilled and utterly overjoyed.

“Naturally, big sister Kate and parents, Carole and Michael, were the first people she told — James aside — and they could not have been more delighted.

“It’s been a tough few weeks for the two families, so this has provided some much-needed happiness and light relief."

This comes after Pippa's father-in-law, and Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews dad, David Matthews was 'charged with rape of a minor'.

French news agency AFP have cited legal sources, stating David Matthews, has been ‘charged with the rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim’.

The rape case is being dealt with by the Juvenile Protection Brigade (BPM) of the Paris judicial police, however David denies the charges.

Spencer and his fiancé Vogue Williams, are also expecting their first child together.

The couple dropped the pregnancy bombshell on Instagram, just one month after Spencer proposed to Vogue on stage at The Lion King.

Spencer wrote: 'So... I’m going to be a father!' Spencer wrote to fans. 'Couldn’t be happier to be sharing these times with the love of my life. We feel truly blessed ❤️'
