Piers Morgan ripped into Natasha, a single mother, on Good Morning Britain earlier today, as he learnt that she had no issue leaving her young child at home on their own.

Flabbergasted at her revelation, he fumed: "What if a fire had started in those few minutes?

"What if he had grabbed a boiling kettle? Or if the TV had caught fire?"

However, Natasha stood her ground, hitting back: "The TV could catch fire while I am in the house!

"The fact is, you know your own child. My Zack is a rule-follower. And I would never do something like leave him in a room with lit candles or an open fire."

The debate went on, with Susanna Reid stating that Natasha had put up ‘an incredibly good defence’ in the argument.

However, Piers still wasn’t convinced.

"Really? I don't think so. Sorry, but who would do this?" he said.

"Am I wrong here? If I was looking after my boys and I wanted to go to the shop, I would tell them they're coming with me. It's lazy not to. And it's wrong."

He even inferred that Natasha was lazy: "Why could you not be bothered to put on some shoes and take your son with you?"

Natasha then gave her final attempt to try and defend her decision: "I believe in taking small steps with children."

She continued: "Where we live, we have a grammar school system. If Zack passes his exams, he will be getting a bus into town every day on his own to school. A jump like that is too big if he stays by my side at home all of the time."
