Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby shocked This Morning fans when they revealed that they would be taking a six week break from the show to spend their summer with their families.

Usually, Ruth Langsford and Eammon Holmes host the show on a Friday, but Phil and Holly were on our screens yesterday as their final farewell before they take a well-deserved break.

And although many were sad to hear that they wouldn’t be seeing their favourite morning duo again until September, they made sure that their final show was one to remember.

During a segment, Phil and Holly were talking to a single mum who was explaining that thanks to her outstanding debts she wouldn’t be able to take her daughter on holiday.

Caller Jo was using the Holiday Helpline to ask the hosts how she should go about taking her daughter away for a summer break, after explaining that her partner had one day packed his bags and left them both.

As if that wasn’t heartbreaking enough, Jo went on to explain through sobs that her partner had also left them in debt which she hadn’t previously known about, meaning that she was left struggling.

‘Obviously the summer holidays are coming and I don’t know what I’m meant to do with her, she’s coming home and telling me how all her friends are doing this and all her friends are doing that,’ she explained.

‘I really want to be able to do stuff with her but at the moment I’m just affording to feed her [and pay for] gas and electric and to support us as a family never mind any of the added extras that an 11 year-old girl wants.’

Travel experts Simon Calder and agony aunt Deirdre Sanders suggested things like camping trips, but Phil decided to do one better.

‘Jo, it’s our last day, we’re in a very good mood, we’re going to sort your debt out,’ he said.

‘You’re not in debt any more. Have a lovely summer.’

Jo, who could hardly believe it, replied: ‘Really? Thank you so much!’

Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the heartwarming moment, and they were overwhelmed by Phil’s generosity.

Proof yet again that Phil and Holly are the absolute best.

We’re going to miss them over the next six weeks. Are you sad to see them go? Let us know what you think on Facebook or Twitter.
