Phillip Schofield has admitted that most of his hangovers are the result of “tequila and Holly Willoughby”

Phillip Schofield has just finished his 24-hour live TV charity marathon for ITV’s Text Santa appeal, so it makes sense that he's decided to open up about the 'hangover code' on This Morning.

Laughing, the 52-year-old presenter revealed: "If someone’s been out the night before, you just walk in and say to the other one, ‘You drive today’.

“There have been times when Holly (Willoughby) has come in and said, ‘You drive today’, and there have been times when I’ve said it to her.”

The silver-haired presenter also admitted that any all-nighters he’s done in recent years have “normally involved tequila and Holly Willoughby”.

His co-presenter is currently on maternity leave with her third child - and Phillip made sure to pop around and congratulate her and hubby Dan Baldwin when she gave birth.

He said: “I took Holly and her husband Dan a big bottle of champagne.

“She’s had one for each of their children’s births. For Chester, I went a bit bigger on the promise this would be the last one!”

But, while he is missing Holly, Phillip has admitted he loves working with Amanda Holden, who is covering for the 33-year-old while she is on maternity leave.

Phillip said: “Amanda’s perfect for the show. She’s utterly filthy – she’s got the filthiest laugh of anyone I know – she’s like a drain!

“She’s such fun, so that’s made things very easy.”
