Honorary ‘Loose Man’ Peter Andre hooked himself up to a ‘birth simulation machine’ on Loose Women to support his pregnant wife Emily MacDonagh.
Emily is due to give birth to their second child soon, so Peter gave birth simulation a go to try to understand the intense pain she will experience throughout labour.
He was hooked up to the machine, at a clinic in Amsterdam called ‘The Birth Hotel’, that replicates labour contractions, using electrical currents through electrodes placed on his stomach.
"I'm not going to lie, I'm really freaking out about the pain," Peter said before he did it. "I should have thought this through, but I'm going to try my hardest."
Operated by an expert physiotherapist, the machine started at stage one, replicating early contraction pains. As the pain increased, Peter was keen to use gas and air to aid with the pain and decided to continue to stage three [which is when a woman would be 10 centimetres dilated] because he said "he'd never hear the end of it from his wife" if he didn't!
Explaining how he felt after the event, Peter said:
"It is nothing you'd ever expect. It's absolutely horrific! Nothing in the world prepared me for that.... they say that guys can relate to it if you've had kidney stones and I've had kidney stones and let me tell you, I would have another twenty kidney stones rather than go through that again! That was hell."
He added, "As soon as I went home, I was noticing that I was different straight away... Every time Emily had braxton hicks, I would go 'are you alright?' and then say 'it's only another twenty seconds, it'll pass' and you do act different. We are going to go through this for real and I'm going to be very different this time because I'm going to know what she's going through. Would I go through it again? Never! This is my only child!"
What a champ.
