Writing in his weekly magazine column, the 41-year-old singer said that he doesn’t want his children to go through the brutal realities of a career in show business.

‘I’m praying my children want to be doctors or lawyers or police officers, because you’ve got to be so thick skinned in this industry,’ he said. ‘It’s weird, because although you put yourself through it, you don’t want your family to go through it.'

8-year-old Junior and 6-year-old Princess have both appeared on Pete’s reality show, but he insists that this is not a prelude to careers as child stars.

‘That to me is the equivalent of brilliant home videos that we’ll have forever,’ he says. Pete says he’d support them if they do choose to follow in his footsteps. ‘If they’re strong enough to deal with that, of course I’ll support.’

So far, the Andre children have their sights set on more traditional careers.

‘Amelia’s going to be a professor and she’s going to invent time travel!’ says Pete. ‘Bista quite often says he wants to be a doctor or a teacher, and Junior wants to be a policeman.’
