Peter Andre has opened up about his mental health in the wake of his divorce from Katie Price, explaining it got so bad he was hospitalised
The dad of four, who is now married to doctor Emily MacDonagh, has always been a vocal advocate for mental health issues, and has spoken before about his own troubles with managing his.
But now he’s opened up about the extent of his anxiety, particularly after divorcing Katie – and seeing his kids with another man, who is unnamed, but Katie started dating cage fighter Alex Reid (who she went onto marry) shortly after the split.
I found it unbelievably hard to see Junior and Princess with another man around them so soon," he wrote in his auto-biography Peter Andre: My World.
"I woke up and I knew something was wrong. I didn't feel well at all, so I went to ask Mike [his brother] to take me to the hospital.
"But I must have collapsed on the way to getting him. When I woke up there was blood all over me. I'd blacked out and whacked my head."
It was that moment that Peter realized he needed to regard his mental health as a priority, calling the incident a “wake up call”.

During a recent interview on an Irish talk show, he said, "I went through it for years.
"I couldn't function. I couldn't think straight. I was having panic attacks. I ended up in all sorts of hospitals, on medication, different therapists."
"I remember praying and saying, 'Please, if I get another chance, if I can get through this period I will never take it for granted.'
"So when I did get through it and things came back and I got to do all these wonderful things, I don't take it for granted."
