Perez Hilton may not have much love for his fellow celebrities, but there’s no denying that he’s a dedicated and devoted father.

The celebrity blogger took to Instagram this week to share a photo gf himself enjoying a shower with his two-year-old son, Mario.

He captioned the shot: “Our family motto is: #fun!

“We try and incorporate fun into as much of the everyday things we do! #Bathtime”

However the image sparked a huge debate online, with many deeming it ‘creepy, ‘inappropriate’, and even a form of ‘child abuse’.

Others went on to question whether Perez was naked around his child - and some homophobic trolls even accused him of ‘turning his son into a cupcake’.

However, speaking to the Daily Mail, the doting dad has hit back at his critics.

He said: "I had my bathing suit on, and I didn't feel the need to clarify that in the caption.

"Everyone does what they see fit as a parent. Personally, I enjoy putting on my swim trunks and taking a shower with my son as often as possible.

“I’d rather do that than leave him unattended, which will not happen until he's older and I'm confident he can be safe alone."

His words have struck a chord with many like-minded parents, who took to Instagram to defend the former Celebrity Big Brother star.

One wrote: “For people saying that this is child abuse and branding a parent a pervert really need to look up the meanings of these words before spitting them out like they have spat the dummy out at Perez.

“You can see that Perez has a deep love for his children and wants the best for them possible - is this really wrong? No, it's not in any way shape or form wrong. Get on with your own lives and leave Perez and his family to there lives.”

Another added: “People are really sick if they find something perverted in his taking a shower with his son. Makes bath time fun.

“I think there are too many sick minds out there worrying about other peoples' kids. Tend your own!”

Since the post, Perez has shared another photo of his adorable son looking very happy and giggly at bath time.

He wrote: "Don't let the world change you. Change the world!"
