The former friends have been conducting a war of words on Twitter over the last few days, with Gaga accusing Perez of stalking her.

And last night Perez retweeted a series of death threats from fans of the singer - as well as posting messages about the dangers of addiction which appeared to be directed at the pop sensation.

Perez posted 'Drugs don't just ruin lives. They run friendships and careers too. Stay away!!!!'

He later posted 'I know some people are sick, and addiction will make you act up, but people need to take accountability for their actions!!!!'

Perez also re-tweeted messages from Kelly Osbourne which read 'My oh my she is at it again'

And adding further fuel to the fire he re-tweeted a messge directed to Lady Gaga which read 'If she gets clean and sobor (sic) perhaps you can expect an apology. For now u cant fight her crazy, addicts dont care.'

In reaction to news that her loyal fans were posting abusive and threatening messages, Gaga herself released a statement urging fans to stop.

She posted 'Sending threats of any kind, using hateful or abusive language, and the provoking of others on the internet is not supported by me or anything that I stand for'.

It is not know what initially triggered the fallout between the previously close friends and in an official statement Perez wrote 'it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life'.

Gaga meanwhile has told her 'Little Monsters' on Twitter 'Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident'.
