Peaches Geldof's 23-year-old husband performed a heart wrenching rendition of Leonard Cohen’s hit Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye at his wife's funeral.

And, according to close family friends, the funeral was a celebration of Peaches' life; Jools Holland, who is friends with Bob Geldof, also played piano and Queen drummer Roger Taylor also sang a song.

Speaking to The Mirror about the service in Davington, Kent, a source said: “It felt like a gig.

"It was so lovely, a real celebration of her life. Tom was brave to sing as he was tremendously upset.”

The Leonard Cohen song seems a fitting choice for the funeral, speaking about the couple's deep love and the sadness of their goodbye.

I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,

your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,

yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new,

in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,

but now it's come to distances and both of us must try,

your eyes are soft with sorrow,

Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

Alan McGee, who was also present at the funeral, revealed he was left shaken by the ceremony - and praised Bob Geldof for his bravery.

He told the Mirror: “It was very heavy when I saw Bob help carry his daughter down through the chapel.

“It was incredibly tragic but I think he handled it as well as any man could.

“The bravest thing I think I’ve ever seen him do is give the eulogy to his daughter who has died.”

Peaches’ cause of death is still unknown. Doctors are waiting for test results.
