A reunion between the celebrity baker and his estranged wife seemed slightly more likely after Paul’s affair with American Baking Competition co-host Marcella Valladolid met a messy end, topped off with his failure to achieve the same success in the States with the famous baking show format. Paul was left with no option but to return to the UK with his tail between his legs.
The famous baker said on the Jonathan Ross Show ‘at the end of the day we’re moving on and I’m in a much better place… I made the biggest mistake of my life and I regret it.’

The marriage appeared to be over when it was reported that Alex had already began divorce proceedings, saying ‘I just want this finished with and to move on.’
Alex showed of dramatic weight-loss following the split- dropping from a size 12 to a size 6- and overhauled her mumsy image, replacing it with a more glamorous look. She was spurred on by her newfound confidence achieved with some help from her close friends, whom are concerned over the former couple's potential reunion.
Alex said to be understandably cautious over a reunion given what she and her son have gone through over the past few months.
Though, Paul’s plan seems to have made some positive progress. Alex recently changed her twitter profile from ‘Not so real Hollywood wife… soon to belong to First Wives Club’ to simply reading ‘Wife, mother, cook and sometimes foodie writer.’
The couple appeared to be spending more time together and enjoyed a family meal to celebrate their son Josh’s 12th birthday and appeared be exchanging friendly tweets after the event.
The estranged couple have also been spotted spending time at each other’s separate homes in Kent.
Paul’s plan to win his wife back might not only save him heartache but also take a lot of pressure off his finances, as Alex is set to be entitled to half of his bake-off earnings.
Hopefully, in time, Paul can find the perfect blend of ingredients to win Alex back!
