'It was as if we weren’t married’

Liam, 41, dated Nicole, 38, immediately after Patsy, but the couple recently split after Nicole discovered he had fathered a secret love-child.

And now Patsy has revealed her own experience of the rock and roll singer’s cheating ways in an interview with a UK newspaper.

Patsy, 45, was married to Liam from 1997 to 2000 and describes her time with Liam as ‘the perfect relationship [she’d] dreamed about when [she] was 16.’

But it wasn’t long before Liam began to neglect her: ‘After weeks of being inseparable he’d walk out the door and be gone for weeks and it was as if we weren’t married.’

'I’d heard all the rumours about his womanising and I knew exactly what was going on behind my back'

However, Patsy - who had already been married twice - claims she was aware Liam was having affairs with other women behind her back.

‘I knew full well the temptation that was thrown his way and inevitably it caused huge problems between us.’

‘I’d heard all the rumours about his womanising and I knew exactly what was going on behind my back,’ she said.

Her husband’s rock and roll lifestyle ended up making the actress insecure.

‘The minute he left I was in turmoil about where he was and what he was up to,’ Patsy confessed.

Nicole Appleton has recently split from Liam after finding out he had fathered a secret love child.

‘I chose my marriage over the job'

‘He had a beard at the time, which I liked because I thought girls might not be so attracted to him! I’d say, “Yeah, keep the beard, it’s a good look.” But it was impossible. He was gorgeous with or without facial hair.’

But despite it’s problems, Patsy turned down the chance to play Ross’s long-term girlfriend Emily in the hugely successful ‘Friends,’ to try and save her relationship with Liam.

‘I chose my marriage over the job,’ she admitted.

But despite the arrival of the couple’s son, Lennon, in 1999, the marriage continued to break down and ended in 2000.

Even then, Patsy says regretted walking out on the relationship.

‘I regretted walking out almost immediately. I think he had moved on while I still had feelings for him, and my heart was broken into a million pieces,’ she said.

After the end of her marriage, Patsy made friends with Nicole Appleton, who Liam dated immediately after her, describing her as ‘a terrific stepmother.’
