In a move that came just months after the star was cut from Grey’s Anatomy, where he played brain surgeon Dereck Shephard, Patrick split from his devoted wife Jillian, also the mother of his three kids.
But 11 months after announcing their split, Patrick and Jillian have enjoyed a romantic weekend in Paris - where they were spotted taking selfies and cycling round the city of love together.
While both of them kept their selfies to themselves, both parties posted pictures of the French city to their Instagram accounts, which they usually reserve for posting details of their work life.
Jillian, who works as a make up artist, is currently travelling Europe as she does Jennifer Lawrence’s make up for the Hunger Games.
Meanwhile, Patrick is on this side of the pond too, as he films scenes for the upcoming Bridget Jones film.
While his role in the film has not been confirmed, shots from the set suggest Patrick plays a romantic interest for Jones - who is still of course in some way involved with Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy.
Hopefully these two are giving their marriage one more shot?
