Her name is now synonymous with Playboy, so it makes sense that editor in chief Hugh Hefner chose Pamela Anderson to grace the cover for the mag’s final ‘nude’ issue.
Playboy announced earlier this year that they would no longer be featuring nude models in on their pages. The move sparked both praise and outcry, but no doubt moves the magazine into the 21st century.
The famous mag claims that the Internet has made nudity ‘passé’.
Scott Flanders, Playboy’s chief executive, said: “That battle has been fought and won. You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”
According to Pamela, 50, there was no other choice when it came to picking the last ‘nude’ cover star.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “I got a call from [Hugh Hefner’s] attorney who said, ‘We don’t want anybody else. There’s nobody else, could you do the last cover of Playboy?”
When it comes to today’s Instagram stars taking attention away from Playboy, Pamela reckons they simply don’t have the same ‘charm’ as she and Hef’s ‘bunnies’.
Pammie explained: “It’s hard to compete with the Internet. And the girl next door doesn’t exist anymore. She’s taking selfies down her shirt. There’s no mystery over there anymore. It doesn’t have that same charm and innocence that it used to.”
