She’s the golden girl of stage and screen but last week Sheridan Smith was accused of being “drunk” and “all over the place” during her performance of West End Show, Funny Girl – something her representative denies.

While show producers claimed the show was aborted half way through due to ‘technical difficulties’ rumours swirled that Sheridan, 34, was locked in her dressing room after having a meltdown on stage.

The drama follows a turbulent few months for the star, which has seen the breakdown of her relationship with actor Greg Wood, and her father Colin diagnosed with cancer.

Insiders tell Closer how the reports last week have sparked serious concern amongst family and friends who fear for her emotional well being as she tries to cope with the drama.

A source says: “Sheridan’s been trying to hold herself together for the past few months, but she’s crumbling and can’t hide it any longer."
