Paloma Faith became a first-time mum in December 2016 and announced the happy news alongside the fact that she'd had a difficult birth.

But now the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer has opened up about just how difficult that birth was - revealing that at one point, her baby's life was in the balance.

Paloma, 36, had her first baby with partner Leyman Lahcine in December, announcing the news on 6 December on her Instagram page with a handwritten note.

It read: "After a difficult birth resulting in an emergency caesarean I gave birth to my first child with whom I am over the moon, in love and delighted. What a trip!

"It was all with the help of some incredible doctors, midwives and nurses at UCH NHS Hospital. The devotion, kindness and commitment shown by all of them was second to none and I am humbled by the whole experience.

"I really believe the NHS to be one of the greatest achievements of this country and it should be respected and protected by all," ending the post by thanking the doctors and nurses who helped her and the NHS.

But poor Paloma has now gone into further detail about her terrible 20-hour labour to The Sun, revealing that her baby, whose name and sex they are keeping secret, was in serious danger.

She explained: "Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. I had 20 hours of labour and a premature one and then I wasn't dilating.

"The baby was in jeopardy and so I had to have an emergency C-section... Then I had so much other stuff go wrong afterwards because I also had an infection afterwards of the womb."

Paloma added that she couldn't walk properly for two months after the birth: "It was really awful, I don't think my body was designed for it. Not to mention putting on three stone."

But of course, it was worth it: "I would do it all again... I just feel now like I want to adopt, I want loads of kids because it's amazing."

What a strong lady!
