The actor, 36, is currently playing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway and says that the role has been helping him keep his faith in love and relationships.

He said: “I’m completely in love with the idea of love. Maybe I’m all misty about it because I’m playing Romeo. But I really believe in, you know, that sort of heart-to-heart connection.”

Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando broke up with up his wife and the mother to his three-year-old son Flynn, supermodel Miranda Kerr, this year.

The couple claim that they ‘still love and care for each other deeply’, and that they try and make it work for the sake of Flynn.

In a recent interview, Australian Miranda said: “I didn’t go home to Australia recently because Orlando was working six days a week in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway and it’s not fair to take Flynn and go without him.

We’re trying to do our best to support each other.

“It’s difficult for anyone to go through separation whether it’s on a public scale or not. It was important for us to preserve our friendship and the dynamic of being loving parents to Flynn so we dealt with everything honestly.”

Miranda also revealed in the interview how having Flynn has changed her life. She said: “Flynn says, ‘Mummy works and daddy plays’, because daddy was in a play, so that makes sense. He’s such a cutie.

“Having my son has been the best thing that has happened to me. Now I like to wear comfortable clothes and flats to be able to run around with him.”
