As if Zayn Malik leaving One Direction wasn't enough for fans to swallow, the band- now comprised of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are reportedly splitting for a year in 2016.
A source told The Sun that Zayn leaving the band was not a factor in their decision, explaining:
“Of course, they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn’t left.
"The guys have been together for five years which is an incredible run for any boyband."
The news comes soon after Liam told Free radio:
I think everyone needs a bit of a break now
"You know, I think everyone needs a bit of a break now and a sit down and a stop, to kind of take in all the great things that have happened."
Oh dear- we're not sure your fans will agree Liam!
A spokesman for the band said: “We don’t comment on speculation.”
