Liam Payne revealed in This Is Us that, if he wasn't in One Direction right now, he'd be working as a fireman and fighting to save lives. And it seems as if he's done just that, as it's been revealed he rescued best friend Andy Samuels from a balcony explosion last night.
A source close to Liam explained to newspapers: “His friend went to fill up the gas for a heating lamp, there was some sort of accident and the whole balcony went up in flames.”
It is understood Liam was inside the flat when the blaze broke out and is thought to have rushed to his pal's side, pulling him away from the explosion.
The fire took 35 firefighters to put it out and crews said 30 people were forced to flee the building. They also revealed that Andy has been hospitalised after suffering burns to his hands and face as a result of the explosion.
Fire Station Manager Laurie Kenny, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters worked quickly and professionally to get the fire under control as quickly as possible. About 30 people left the building before we arrived and were not injured."
“Two of the occupants had superficial burns to their hands and the third had burns to his hands and face. All three have been taken to hospital.”
Daisie Smith, Andy's girlfriend, took to Twitter this morning to update 1D fans on his condition:
We have our fingers tightly crossed for Andy Samuels; hopefully he gets better soon. We'll have to wait and see if 1D's Liam has anything to say about the matter later today.
