It has been heavily rumoured over the past week or so that Olly Murs is the favourite to replace Dermot O’Leary on The X Factor.
And now, speaking to The Sun, Olly has finally addressed the reports.
Speaking from the heart, the popular singer said: “There’s no way I would even discuss doing the job on my own to replace Dermot.
“Dermot is one of my best mates in the industry.
“He’s my showbiz brother. I would never do that job on my own and never try to be Dermot O’Leary.”
Note the use of the word ‘alone’ - because, while Olly might not want to take not he job all by himself, he definitely seems like he might consider it if he was working alongside old pal Caroline Flack.
He said simply: “The only way I would even think or talk about it would be if Caroline was doing it with me because me and Caroline were great together.
“I wouldn’t want us to be compared to Dermot, because Dermot is brilliant at what he is.”
“It would be completely different to what Dermot did,” he added.
Hmm - how intriguing,
With so many publications already reporting that the pair are Simon Cowell’s favourites to replace Dermot as the show’s presenter, has Olly all but confirmed that he and Caroline are in talks to host The X Factor this year?
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next!
