Ola Jordan has spoken out about her relationship with husband James, admitting he was with another woman when they started dating.
Professional dancer Ola took James away from his girlfriend after she met him in Blackpool in 1999.
She made the revelation in her book Strictly Ola: My Story, claiming it happened when she was just 17 years old.
She wrote: “His partner was Polish, and when I watched them dance together I was filled with just one thought, ‘I want to have a partner like that one day.’
“At one point during the competition I actually got introduced to this tall, dark stranger, very fleetingly. ‘Hello’, he smiled. And then he was gone.”
However, Ola thought James was “well out of my league” but couldn’t get the thought of their meeting out of her mind.
But Ola later got a phone call from James’ dance partner, who was also his girlfriend, asking if she would like to trial for dancing with him.
Both James and his partner that called Ola were looking for other people to work with at the time.
Ola insists she had no plans for romance when she went for her trial with James but they worked well as a duo.
She wrote: “It didn’t bother me that he had a girlfriend. I was four-and-a-half years younger than James and never considered for one moment that he could possibly be interested in a girl like me, not in that way.
“He was spoken for and was very renowned in the dance world, and I felt young and inexperienced by comparison.
“Nevertheless, when I saw James walk through arrivals at the airport my heart skipped a beat.”
The pair eventually grew closer as they trained together with James breaking up with his girlfriend.
But he and Ola did not immediately get together as it took a while for them to admit their feelings for each other.
James and Ola ended up marrying in 2003 and have both appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, which Ola left in 2015.
