Suranne Jones let the previously well-kept secret out last night, as she announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Laurence Akers, who joined her on the red carpet last night.

Turning up to the annual National Television Awards last night in a stunning floor length one-shoulder black dress, there was no way for the talented former Coronation Street star to disguise that she has a little one on the way.

Although the 37-year-old looked beaming all evening long, she couldn't stop smiling after it was announced she had won the award for Best Drama Performance for her role as Dr. Gemma Foster in the BBc Two drama, Doctor Foster.

The mum-to-be said in her acceptance speech:

“Thank you so much. I’m so thrilled.

"I should be at an antenatal class with my husband, and erm...we didn't go!

"So if anyone from the group wants to email how to give birth or tips on labour that would be quite useful.

"Thank you so much to the BBC for commissioning a relationship drama and supporting it.'

Doctor Foster also scooped the ward for Best New Drama last night at the NTAs, too.
