We’ve all been there. You have one (ahem, six) too many at your office party, and turn up to work the next day in the clothes from the night before, having been unable to make the journey home.

But if you’re job is presenting to the nation live on TV every morning, it’s not quite the same story...

That’s right, today presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield turned up to This Morning in last night’s clothes, after partying a little too hard at the National Television Awards.

Holly confessed: “You may have noticed that we are still wearing the same clothes… um, I haven’t been home yet!”

While Phillip said: “I can only apologise... this is the worst I’ve ever been.”

Although most likely nursing sore heads, the terrible twosome managed to thank viewers for their sixth consecutive award.

Phillip said: “Good morning! Another NTA…”

And Holly: “Thank you so, so, so much - we blame you entirely for what is about to happen!”

The hosts then proudly pointed towards their collection of NTA awards and showed the winning moment for the ‘Best Live Magazine’ category for viewers to watch again.

Holly and Phillip explained that they went back to party with Ant (of Ant and Dec fame, of course) and Phillip told the audience:

“It’s tradition that we go back to Ant [McPartlin] house - and he had the brilliant idea of bringing out Pie Face, the game. But it was tweaked…”

They then showed lucky viewers some hilarious video footage of Holly getting hit in the face with added mustard, piccalilli, and mint sauce, whilst Phillip was hit by the chilli sauce extras.

But despite all the fun and (messy) games, both halves of the duo gave a sincere thank you. Holly said:

“But thank you so much for making this happen, it really does mean the absolute world and we celebrated on behalf of each and everyone of you!”

And Phillip:

“Last night was utterly amazing. And the thing is they change our category every year and we were in [with] some really tough competition…. so thank you, we didn’t think we were going to get it last night... Thank you to all our team as well - we went to pick it up, but everyone here [in studio] were the ones that got it."

Aww!

As funny as the episode was, they did manage to smarten up in the end, eventually getting changed into new clothes, looking a little bit more fresh-faced for the rest of the show.
