It’s been the nation's worst kept secret but now that Noel Edmonds has FINALLY been confirmed as a late arrival to the Jungle, he’s opened up about how he’s been preparing for the challenge

He admits he’s been “role-playing” with his ever supportive wife Liz – by eating worms, naturally.

“There are now no worms in our garden; [they taste] exactly like you’d expect,” he said, explaining he’s now ready for whatever delicacies the producers may throw at him, including the famous ‘roos' testicles.

“Empty testicles I’m better with,” he continued. “So I hope they’re emptied before. I’ve never seen reference to whether they are or not.”

Wife Liz, who he married in 2009, may well be supportive of his decision to go into the jungle – but it was a trade-off for not doing Strictly instead, and avoiding the 'Strictly curse'.

“I have been asked to do Strictly,” he told The Sun. “Liz is a fully-trained singer and dancer and a couple of years ago she said, ‘Why don’t we cheat? Why don’t we say you’re a novice and I’ll teach you before?’

“Then I think there was one of those curse moments and I said to her, ‘Are you comfortable with me spending five or six days a week with a half-naked woman draped all over me?’ And it’s funny how the conversation just changed."

Having presented Deal or No Deal since 2005, Noel has now struck a deal with the British public that if he wins, he’ll retire from telly after a prosperous 50-year career.

“I am going to win because I promise the British public if they vote for me, I will retire from television and never appear again. Fifty years is long enough, give us a break for Christ’s sake,” he said
