Nick has been spotted getting close to the 23-year-old model, real name Jasmine Saunders, following his confirmation that there was 'trouble in paradise' for him and 44-year-old Mariah.

US sources claim that Nick, 33, was actually seen in a Malibu nightclub with Jasmine in July, suggesting there has been problems between him and his wife of six years for a while.

While American magazine Star claim that Nick is in fact paying the rent on Jasmine's apartment in LA, other suggest that it was Mariah's diva demands that caused their marriage to breakdown.

A source said: "She is used to being treated like a princess and waited on hand and foot. Nick treated her that way in the beginning, but then his career took off and his priorities shifted.

"He though she had this incredible work ethic, but she's become a housewife."

Regardless of the reason, it seems Mariah is taking the split pretty badly and is said to be simply pretending it's not happening.

The source continued: "I would like to say she is horrible upset, but she lives in a fantasy world. She is focusing on her [upcoming tour] and pretending the breakup with Nick isn't happening. She's in her own world."

Superstar Mariah also seems to be turning to her children for support. She and Nick are parents to twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe, and last week she shared a snap of her and their little girl.

She simply captioned it: "My heart"

Mariah is yet to publicly speak of the rumours of her and Nick's marriage troubles.
