Songstress Mariah is said to be upset that Nick went ahead with the confirmation without consulting her, and he reportedly visited her yesterday to apologise.

A source told E! News that Nick "knows he really upset her by speaking out of turn.

"She asked Nick to come over to the apartment yesterday to talk – that's why he was there.

"She told him she needed to get out of town and she was taking the kids with her. Nick was fine with it."

Mariah and Nick are parents to three-year-old twins Morocco and Monroe, and the source dismissed claims he is concerned for their well-being.

He said: "The reports about him being concerned about the welfare of the kids aren't true. If he was worried, the kids wouldn't be with her, period. He thinks she's a good mom."

Mariah is said to be 'devastated' that Nick spoke to the press, as they were supposed to be breaking the news together.
