New royal baby arrives as Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall announce the birth of their daughter

Buckingham palace have announced the birth of Zara Phillips and husband Mike Tindall’s first child, a baby girl.

The palace released a statement reading: ‘The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.’

'The baby's name will be confirmed in due course.’

Zara delivered the couple’s daughter at NHS Gloucestershire Royal Hospital close to mother Princess Anne’s estate. Husband Mike was present for the arrival.

The daughter is 16th in line to the throne, but like her parents will not be given a royal title.

The royal married husband Mike in 2011.

Zara was recently chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to be Godmother to their own new addition, Prince George.

The new born reportedly weighed 7lbs 12oz and will be the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild.
