The Coronation Street star welcomed her first child last month after a stressful 38-hour labour.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Catherine revealed at one point she feared she'd need a Caesarian.
She said: "Straight after he'd said that, he checked me again and suddenly said, 'Get on the delivery table, it's time to get pushing!'"
Her fiancé Tom Pitfield commented that the long labour made it feel like they'd never meet their son.
Catherine, who was two-weeks overdue when she was induced, said she believes hypno-birthing techniques got her though, claiming she only ate and meditated for the first 24 hours.
As well as finally getting to meet their baby, Alfie's birth has meant that Catherine has been able to get some sleep.
She said: "I've actually had more sleep now he's born than when I was heavily pregnant as I was so uncomfortable towards the end."
Catherine took to Twitter last month to announce her and Tom's happy news.
She wrote: "We made a wish and you come true. Welcome Alfie James Pitfield. We love you beyond words."
