There’s no doubt that Natasha Hamilton is a devoted, caring mum to her four children - Ella, one, Alfie, five, Harry, 11, and Josh, 13. But sadly that hasn’t stopped trolls and bullies attacking the former Atomic Kitten singer for being a so-called ‘4x4’ mum.

Opening up on This Morning, the singer looked teary as she explained that while she has “skin as thick as a rhino,” watching her kids be subjected to abuse was tougher to take.

"Cruel comments are tough for me to read but as an adult, I know I just have to put my armour on and get on with it.

"But now, the effects are starting to trickle down to my kids.

“My son Josh, who is 13, was on held down on a school bus and shouted at by bullies telling him he has a '4x4 mum'. He was so upset afterwards.

"It's heartbreaking picking up the pieces when the kids come home after hearing comments aimed at me."

Poor Josh – and poor Natasha!

While she said that of course people are entitled to their opinions, she reminded viewers that derogatory comments are not acceptable. She said:

"They're not nice or funny and it's not just affecting me, it's affecting my children.

"Being brought up with a mum in the limelight, my kids have learnt that the world can be a cruel place.

"As a result, they've also learnt not to judge or tease others because they know what it's like to be on the receiving end."

This sounds like a horrible ordeal – but bless Natasha for taking away a positive from the negative experience. Shutting down critics further, she said:

"I have been successful in my own right since I was 16…I don't have handouts or benefits. I earn good money and I do the best I can for my children."

After the show, the mum-of-four took to Twitter to thank fans for their support after the emotional interview.

She tweeted:

And of course hardcore fans and regular viewers alike chimed in to support the brave mum.

How lovely! Let’s hope all this positivity drowns out those nasty trolls!
