The actress turned writer took to her Twitter page to quash any rumours that she would be returning to her role as Natalie Hillard, the youngest of Mrs Doubtfire/Daniel Hillard’s three children.
She wrote: ‘For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I.’
She continued, writing to fans: ‘I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now.’
She then slammed ALL sequels ‘in general’ in her following tweet…
‘Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end.’
Mara admitted that she was proud to have appeared in the film, but she did not see a sequel being as successful as the original 1994 movie.
‘I'm glad I had the chance to be in it, and I'm proud of what we did, but I don't see how we could do it again.’
Following Mrs Doubtfire, Mara starred in the hugely successful film adaption of ‘Matilda,’ but later chose to quite acting.
She moved to New York to attend university and now works as a writer.
