The granddaughter of children’s author Roald Dahl became famous for her size 16 curves when she began modelling in the early ’90s, but slimmed to a size 10 in recent years.

Launching her brand new cookbook, the model warned “starving is not sexy” and said her struggle with her own weight had led her to believe moderation is the key to a healthy-looking figure.

Sophie – who is engaged to jazz singer Jamie Cullum - warns:

‘Starving is not sexy. It is bleeding gums, acrid breath, brittle bones, osteoporosis, infertility and complication. It saps and withers.'

'I don’t really believe in cutting out food groups, of subscribing to militant, forbidding diets. What I do believe in is moderation and balance, because both have served me well.’
