‘Miley Cyrus literally sounds like a goat’

While some praised the singer for refusing to pre-record her performance, others slated the 20 year-old’s vocals during her rendition of number one hit Wrecking Ball.

‘Is Miley Cyrus ok? At least we can be 1000% sure she isn’t miming, good on her for giving it a go,’ tweeted one viewer.

While another claimed: ‘Miley Cyrus literally sounds like a goat.’

Another Twitter user added: ‘No one should ever let miley cyrus sing live again.’

Others were bemused by the giant fake sand slope the performer sat on during the performance.

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield joked that 'Miley opened ‘the new #xfactor dry ski slope.’

After being warned by bosses that X Factor is a family show, controversial dresser Miley covered up in a long gold Marc Jacobs dress and a turban that she bought from London’s Brick Lane market.

Before her appearance on the show, Miley tweeted: 'Thank you @MarcJacobsIntl for tonight on @TheXFactor and thanks Brick Lane St. for my turban'.

The outfit was also subject to mixed reactions on Twitter, with some comparing the dress to ‘bacofoil’ and others claiming Miley looked like a fortune teller.

But Miley seemed excited to return to the UK as part of her ‘Bangerz tour,’ telling host Dermot O’Leary: ‘I will be here next year in the spring on my Bangerz tour … I will be here for a very long time so I'm looking forward to seeing you here next year.’
